UFLI Foundations is an explicit and systematic phonics program that introduces students to the foundational reading skills necessary for proficient reading. It follows a carefully developed scope and sequence designed to ensure that students systematically acquire each skill needed and learn to apply each skill with automaticity and confidence.

Developed by Dr. Holly Lane and Dr. Valentina Contesse of the University of Florida Literacy Institute and facilitated by Speld Qld, this one-day workshop will include:

• A review of essential background knowledge about the science of reading
• An overview of the UFLI Foundations program
• An in-depth exploration of each lesson step
• Recommendations for progress monitoring and differentiation

Workshop attendees can purchase the UFLI Foundations manual at the discounted price of $99.00 (usually $121.00) on the day. (Visa/Mastercard payments only)

Presenters:

Kylie Eckermann and Kylie Power are both trained primary school teachers and UFLI Trainers committed to using research and evidence-based approaches to improve academic outcomes for all students.

They have been presenting synthetic phonics to teachers and speech pathologists for Speld QLD for the past 3 years and have extensive experience of teaching children using evidence-based phonics programs in a variety of educational settings.

4. Changes requested within 6 days of start date are not able to be made, as course details are confirmed with venue/trainer.
5. Speld Qld reserves the right to cancel or reschedule an event if minimum numbers (as determined by us) are not met, or if the presenter is unable to attend. You may choose to transfer to the new event, send another attendee in your place or receive a refund.
