Sound Hearing (photocopiable version)

Author: Dr Lillian Fawcett

Research shows that the phonological awareness of pre-school children is the most powerful predictor of success in learning to read and spell.

Sound Hearing is designed to systematically teach students who have poor phonological awareness the specific skills in which they have a deficit.

It consists of an assessment tool, real and nonsense word drills, minimal pair exercises and activities for commonly confused sounds and words.

Contents:

  • Part 1: auditory exercises focusing on the sounds not the spelling of words.
  • Part 2: exercises to assist students who have difficulty differentiating between different or words.
  • A phonological awareness test to determine the correct starting level.
  • Alphabet and digraph cards

This version is printed on single sided pages to assist with photocopying for use with multiple students.
