Speld Qld is a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to support people experiencing learning difficulties. It is estimated that between 10% and 16% of Australians experience a Specific Learning Disorder (SLD), with impairments in reading, writing and/or mathematics. Speld’s free advisory line support parents and educators on how to support students with learning difficulties. Speld also offers professional development in literacy interventions, a library of resources of members, a Kindy Inclusion Service, as well as assessments by psychologists and speech pathologists.

This presentation aims to:
• Provide information on practical and hands-on strategies that parents can do to help their child with learning difficulties
• Increase understanding of learning disabilities, particularly dyslexia
• Increase understanding of the Specific Learning Disorder diagnostic process
This session would be of interest to parents and families wanting to know how to support their child with learning difficulties or a Specific Learning Disorder.
