Danielle Steendam, Director of Literacy Advance offers individualised, specialist literacy instruction (online and face-to-face) to students in the foundational years of formal learning (5-8 years old). Experienced in working with students who have dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD and ASD, Danielle is an accredited MSL Specialist Educator (AMADA) and a registered Early Years Teacher. She has completed LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling); Yoshimoto O-G training; and postgraduate studies at ECU in literacy learning difficulties.
Danielle has also been trained in the use of a range of programmes and processes including: UFLI, PhOrMes, WordCracker, Read3 and the foundational Literacy framework developed by Barbara Brann - the Magic Caterpillar’s Building Blocks to Literacy. Danielle is also experienced in using a variety of evidenced based assessment tools to identify and analyse the specific skills that require further development.
In addition to providing specialist instruction to young learners, Danielle also often provides Professional Development to teachers in the area of correct letter formation. She is experienced in working with many students who experience difficulties forming their letters.
Since commencing in her own practice in 2020, Danielle has supported more than 100 students to make progress with their learning.
