Spent 13 years with Education Queensland as a Support Teacher: Literacy and Numeracy before beginning my own practice. I have a passionate interest in supporting dyslexic students. I’m a registered schoolteacher and accredited provider of the Cracking the ABC Code literacy programme. My programme is structured synthetic phonics, based on the Science of Reading. I approach my students with a growth mindset, which means I firmly believe in their potential to learn. I believe in a strong partnership with parents, and I also train parents so they can assist in their child’s learning.

I carefully match my programme to the student’s stage of literacy development and their literacy gaps. My programme teaches literacy knowledge and skills in a systematic and cumulative way, using both oral and written modes of learning.

I work from my learning centre in North Lakes, North Brisbane, and can work with students from 6 years old to adult.

I have extensive experience developing literacy intervention programs and have undertaken training in numerous intervention programs, including the University of Queensland Phonological Awareness for Literacy and Early Literacy Fundamental programs. Kristina Craner is a qualified primary school teacher offering literacy and numeracy support for children and adults. Kristina has a keen interest in literacy and has completed Multisensory Structured Literacy (MSL) training through the Institute for Multisensory Structured Language Education.

Tara has been successfully helping children with learning differences to read, spell and do maths for many years. She particularly enjoys providing clarity and empowering parents to advocate for and support their children on their learning journey. Tara is trained in multiple programs and stays current with research, beyond her post-grad qualifications in Education and Counselling, to ensure the most up-to-date information available in learning research is being employed. As a Registered counsellor, she can be particularly valuable to children who are developing anxiety or plummeting confidence in relation to their learning. Tara is a Mum of children with learning difficulties and is sensitive to the needs of children with ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia and their parents. Tara has strong working relationships with local schools and can assist in liaising with teachers and learning support. She loves to pass on strategies and tips that make reading and maths easier.

My name is Emma and I have over 20 years experience of teaching children with a range of learning needs.

When my daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia, I wanted to learn everything I could to help her, so completed a qualification through the British Dyslexia Association to become a dyslexia specialist teacher. I have tutored many children over the years, and love seeing their confidence grow and skill develop.

I am a passionate teacher of 26 years in the classroom. I am a qualified teacher with a blue card as well as current teacher registration. I studied about Dyslexia in 2016 then in 2018 after my daughter was diagnosed at age 7. I then sought assistance from Speld Qld in how best to support her. After that experience, and with my teaching background and interest around Dyslexia I did further training in multi sensory teaching with the Learnersaurus Program and worked at the Speld Qld office for 12 months delivering the program onsite. I have also completed further training in other programs as well as currently the two year teacher training course in the “LETRS” Professional development course of which I will finalise this year in 2021. I now tutor online and have limited availability with some face to face Tutoring. I really enjoy teaching and tutoring and assisting people to reach their full potential with their reading, spelling and writing, as well as in other academic areas. I tailor the literacy delivery to the individuals requirements.

I provide a unique 8 week reading program that couples the structure and sequence of the Sounds Write Program with social and emotional training through, Equine assisted learning through the Horse Powered Reading Program. I am a senior experienced literacy specialist teacher and trained EAL (Equine Assisted Learning) facilitator.

When reading doesn't come easily to a young person, social and emotional barriers begin to impact their willingness and engagement with learning. Combining academic rigor with social-emotional learning reconnects young people with learning.
