The requirements for becoming a Speld Specialist Teacher are in place to establish a minimum standard of professional experience and practice. Specialist Teachers are expected to engage in lifelong learning and be involved in a continuous journey of professional reflection, improvement, and development.

Are you interested in becoming a Speld Qld Specialist Teacher or Specialist Tutor?
Completed training in at least one evidence-based program. List here.
Experience using this program (for at least 3 months).
A minimum of two years practical experience supporting students with literacy and/or numeracy (either school or private settings).
Knowledge and understanding of SLD’s, learning difficulties and how to support these students. I can explain what challenges these students face and some possible accommodations.
A current Blue Card or Blue Card Exemption card.
A Current Tax File Number (TFN) and Australian Business Number (ABN).
Investigated and made decisions on: - availability - fees and how I invoice - insurance needs - mode of tuition and have implemented with my own private students.

Note: Speld Qld does not directly employ Specialist Teachers/Tutors, nor is it involved in the financial arrangements between tutors and families. Our role is to match prospective students with registered tutors and then monitor the student's progress. You will organise your own business processes (financial and administration).
Q and A / interview sessions are held twice per term. The next sessions will be on Wednesday the 10th of September and Thursday the 11th of September.
