I am an experienced specialist literacy teacher. My joy and passion are building relationships, building confidence and guiding students through their literacy intervention journey. I use evidence-based phonics programs. Sounds- Write and UFLI. My program includes reading books, one-to-one tuition, fun games and guided home activities to enhance and consolidate learning skills. I teach from home and travel 15 Km from home to students.

I am an experienced primary school teacher who is passionate about supporting all students with differing learning needs. I have experience in learning support as well as inclusion support as a role in the school system. My focus is to asses your child and work with them the best way they can learn using evidence based programs I am trained in.

Primary | Secondary
The Teaching Team is a specialist team of registered teachers providing one-on-one support. We believe building strong foundations can give your child the confidence to succeed at school. That’s why we use evidence-based programs, delivered in a calm, supportive environment at our learning space in Paddington, Brisbane. Our Teachers work with Sounds-Write, UFLI, Read 3 and Brighter Maths (Maths Australia) to develop a personalised intervention plan for each student.

I have extensive experience in successfully teaching students with Autism, ADHD, anxiety and dyslexia and personal experience too, as my daughter and husband live with these conditions. I design lessons specifically for each student and work hard to make the lessons engaging and to include students’ interests. I am also an award-winning writer and understand the opportunity and enjoyment that reading and writing fluently and expressively allows. I love supporting students to achieve fluency, confidence and enjoyment in their literacy skills and am committed to providing affordable, reliable and effective learning.

Igoe & Grow offers personalised literacy support for school age children through small group and 1:1 sessions. With over 35 years in education, I specialise in reading, writing, and phonics using evidence-based, engaging approaches. Each program is tailored to build confidence and meet individual learning needs. I create a nurturing environment where children feel supported and motivated to progress and grow. Based in Dicky Beach, Caloundra, I partner with families to help every child succeed.

1:1 Support | Online Specialist
Hummingbird Learning provide literacy support tailored to each student’s individual needs. I bring over 25 years of experience across classroom teaching, learning support, and targeted literacy intervention, including supporting children with dyslexia and learning difficulties. I am also currently undertaking postgraduate study in speech pathology, strengthening my understanding of the connection between speech, language, and literacy. Sessions are calm, supportive, and practical, with a focus on building confidence and helping children develop skills in reading, spelling, and written language.





Prep to adult
Originally a clinical psychologist (NZ) I have been assessing and teaching children and adults with learning difficulties, especially dyslexia, ASD, ADHD etc. for over 30 years, as well as ESL youngsters. Every person is different and an individual program, working on the needs of that specific child or adult, is developed from a full, written report.

Literacy
I’m a Primary Speld Specialist Teacher based in Holland Park, offering in-person, one-to-one, forty minute sessions. Lessons use the evidence-based Sounds-Write program, with a focus on reading, writing and spelling, as well as support for fluency, comprehension and confidence building.

MSL Therapy | Literacy Intervention
Dominique is a Gold Coast educator with over a decade of experience specialising in evidence-based literacy intervention. She utilises Multisensory Structured Language (MSL) therapy, a gold-standard approach for remediating dyslexia and language-based learning difficulties. Her private practice supports diverse learners, including those with dyslexia, dysgraphia, autism, ADHD, intellectual impairments, auditory processing disorder and developmental delays. Dominique is also a PhD candidate specialising in autism research, ensuring her practice remains at the forefront of inclusive, evidence-based education.

Nicole is a registered teacher with nearly 30 years of experience supporting students from Prep to Year 8. She specialises in evidence-based literacy intervention (reading, writing and spelling) and/or targeted mathematics support. Her sessions focus on strengthening foundational skills through explicit, structured instruction tailored to each learner, helping students close learning gaps, build confidence, and make measurable academic progress.

I am an experienced teacher and curriculum leader with a passion for early literacy. I offer personalised 1:1 literacy tuition in your home to support young learners. My teaching uses evidence-based structured literacy approaches to build strong reading and spelling foundations. I am trained and experienced in Sounds-Write, UFLI and the MultiLit suite (MiniLit Sage, InitiaLit and Spellex). I love helping children grow in confidence as they become successful readers.

Danielle Steendam, Director of Literacy Advance offers individualised, specialist literacy instruction (online and face-to-face) to students in the foundational years of formal learning (5-8 years old). Experienced in working with students who have dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD and ASD, Danielle is an accredited MSL Specialist Educator (AMADA) and a registered Early Years Teacher. Offering in-home support for primary school aged children, building and consolidating essential Literacy skills. With 10+ years of experience supporting children in Schools, I cater to individual learning styles and needs, and work with families to build student confidence. I am trained in several Synthetic Phonics Programs (UFLI, Sounds-Write and MiniLit) and can also provide support with numeracy skill development. I can collaborate with your child’s support team and implement Speech Therapy plans and incorporate OT recommendations.

Open Book Tutoring provides personalised literacy intervention for students who need support beyond the classroom. Our approach is grounded in the Science of Reading, using structured, evidence-based instruction to build strong foundations in reading, spelling, and writing. We tailor every lesson to the individual needs of each learner, supporting students with learning difficulties as well as those needing extra consolidation. Our goal is to develop confident, capable learners with the functional literacy skills they need to succeed in school and everyday life.


Yr P-6 | Small groups and 1:1 | Primary
Programs are highly effective for, but not limited to, children with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and speech and language disorders. Ideal for Speld members and children with provisional diagnosis. Tailored programs use direct, explicit teaching to address specific needs and improve learning outcomes, especially when whole-class methods haven't been effective. Sessions are held in a home studio in Carina before, during and after school hours.


Prep–Year 10 Literacy
Heidi is a Literacy Intervention Specialist working with students from Prep to Year 10. She has extensive experience supporting learners with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and related learning challenges. Her approach is calm, structured, and strengths‑focused, helping students build confidence and independence. Heidi also provides high‑school study skills and flexible online support.
